Inaugural Chongben Honors College Development Symposium & Alumni Academic Forum Held Successfully

On October 21st, coinciding with the centennial anniversary of Ocean University of China, Chongben College hosted its Inaugural College Development Symposium and Alumni Academic Forum. This event aimed to strengthen ties between alumni and their alma mater, establish a platform for interaction between graduates and current students, support alumni career development, and promote the long-term growth of the college.

The gathering brought together over 20 distinguished alumni from leading Chinese institutions including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Fudan University. College leadership and faculty representatives attended the event, which also drew participation from more than 60 current students.



Vice Dean Chen Qing presided over the symposium, extending warm welcome and sincere gratitude to attending faculty and alumni. Dean Gao Huiwang presented the college's latest developments, emphasizing: Chongben's establishment thrives on alumni dedication, its achievements stem from alumni contributions, and its progress relies on alumni support.

2023 Class Advisor Song Dehai urged alumni to maintain perseverance in their new career phases while strengthening ties with alma mater and fellow graduates. 2024 Class Advisor Xu Zhao encouraged open dialogue and proactive suggestions for institutional improvement. Academic Advisor Zhuang Yunyun reaffirmed the importance of Chongben's family culture, hoping alumni would continue growing collaboratively. Vice Dean Zhao Dongliang presented the updated cultivation plan, inviting feedback informed by alumni's firsthand educational experiences.

During discussions, alumni expressed appreciation for the college's substantive training system while offering valuable recommendations regarding curriculum development, mentorship framework, holistic education initiatives (Five-Education brand programs) and internationalization strategies.



Wei Zitai, a student from Class of 2023, presided over the Alumni Academic Forum. Attending alumni presented phased academic achievements, demonstrating exceptional research capabilities while creating valuable academic resources and exchange platforms for current students.

The successful event has strengthened institutional-alumni connections and infused new vitality into Chongben's development trajectory.Through concerted efforts of faculty, students, and alumni, Chongben College is positioned to cultivate more top-tier scholars and contribute innovative talent to China's maritime endeavors.
