On the evening of November 14, Chongben Honors College held an information session for the 2024 Marine Science Top-Notch Students Selection in the open space on the third floor of Xingzhi Building. The event featured presentations by Professor Zhao Dongliang, Vice Dean of Chongben College, and Li Haizhi, an outstanding senior from the Class of 2021. Ms. Wang Xue, Secretary of Chongben College, served as the moderator for the session.

Prior to the formal proceedings, attendees viewed the admissions promotional video Radiance, gaining vivid insights into academic and campus life at Chongben College.

Vice Dean Zhao Dongliang opened the session with a comprehensive introduction to Chongben College as a National Training Base for Elite Marine Science Students. Tracing the institution's pedagogical philosophy from Qian Xuesen's Inquiry to its establishment under the Ministry of Education's Top-tier Basic Disciplines Program, Zhao elaborated on the college's educational principles, cultivation framework and demonstrated achievements. He extended both earnest expectations for young scholars and a warm welcome to prospective applicants passionate about marine sciences.

Li Haizhi, a 2021 cohort member and recipient of the prestigious Antarctic Award at the 14th National Ocean Knowledge Competition, shared his Chongben journey. The senior reflected on transformative firsts enabled by the college: all-night competition preparations, debut theater experiences and initial passport/visa application processes. Though demanding, Chongben's warm, challenging environment has crafted my most treasured university memories, Haizhi remarked, encapsulating the program's transformative impact.

Following the interactive Q&A segment, the event culminated with a special lottery organized by Ms. Wang Xue. Thirty-seven fortunate attendees won spots for Chongben College's upcoming exclusive research facility tours, which will be arranged by the college to various marine science research institutes.

With this successful conclusion to the information session, Chongben College extends its anticipation to welcome more ocean-enthusiastic and research-driven students. Together, we shall compose new chapters in cultivating the next generation of elite marine scientists at this national training base!
