On the afternoon of September 24th, 2020, the Tea Time with Dean event was held at Chongben Honors College (CBHC). Gao Huiwang, dean of CBHC, had an in-depth and enthusiastic discussion with seven students, focusing on topics such as college construction, curriculum design, learning insights, and personal growth.
At the beginning, Dean Gao greeted everyone warmly, encouraging them to relax and share their genuine opinions and suggestions on college construction. Ye Qiwei, one of the students, had collected opinions gathered from all students and provided feedback to Dean Gao on various aspects of their current academic life. Some students raised questions about course arrangements and teaching methods, to which the dean explained the original intention behind the college's program design. Besides, he affirmed some students' suggestions and suggested that he would conduct further discussions later. Students also shared their opinions and experiences about unified accommodation, student activities, and future plans, which Dean Gao addressed one by one.
With an open, inclusive, and encouraging attitude, Dean Gao engaged in a two-hour-long discussion with the students. While accepting some of the suggestions, he also hoped that students would be able to overcome the existing difficulties, such as the shortage of accommodation resources.
As the college is in the early stage of development, every teacher and student involved is its “maker”. Dean Gao hopes that everyone could try their best to overcome the challenges and demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit of enduring great hardships while blazing the trail. Besides, as students continue to enrich themselves, they could also play their own part in the college’s construction and development. With joint efforts of both teachers and students, the college can gradually work towards perfection.
